Connecting Omni: Slack, Seismic, Glean and friends

Omni doesn't have to live inside Outreach. Ask it questions from Slack, and let it pull answers from your other sales tools so nobody has to switch tabs.

What it actually does

Omni in Slack lets you ask Outreach questions without opening Outreach. Message the Outreach app privately, or invite it to a channel and @mention it. Type something like "@Outreach, show me my open opportunities" and it answers in a thread with live Outreach data. It can analyze pipeline, look up accounts and prospects, search emails and call transcripts, show leaderboards and draft follow-ups.

MCP connectors work in the other direction. They let Omni reach into your other tools and combine what it finds there with your Outreach data in one answer. The launch list includes Amplitude, Crayon, Demandbase, Glean, Mindtickle, Seismic, Slack, Snowflake and ZoomInfo, and companies can add private connectors of their own.

Who it's for

Reps and managers who live in Slack or juggle many tools. Admins set the guardrails and choose the connectors.

Why it matters

Answers come to where people already work, and competitive intel, content and product data show up next to pipeline data.

How it’s grown so far this year

APR
Omni in the Slack app. Chat privately with Omni, with approve and reject buttons right in the thread. Account notifications can go to a chosen channel.
JUN
MCP connectors. Omni can pull answers from other sales tools.
AUG
Connectors on mobile. Switch connectors on or off inside Omni on your phone.
OCT
Omni in Slack channels. @mention it in a shared channel and it replies in a thread.

How to set it up

  1. Chat with Omni privately in Slack

Open the Outreach app from Slack's Apps list or your DMs and ask a question. If you belong to more than one Outreach instance, pick which one.

  2. Use it in a channel

Type /invite @Outreach in the channel, then @Outreach followed by your question. Omni answers in a thread.

  3. Set the Slack guardrails (admins)

Admins choose whether channel use is on, whether replies are visible to the whole channel or only to the person who asked, where the bot can work, and which channels are off limits. Outreach doesn't document the exact menu path for these settings.

  4. Install a connector (admins)

Go to Administration › AI › MCP connectors and install one from the marketplace. On the Tools tab, sign in and choose what the connector may do. On the Access tab, choose which users or groups get it.

  5. Turn connectors on for yourself

Under Personal settings › MCP connectors, switch a connector on and sign in with your own account for that tool. In Omni, use the filter icon to choose which connectors a question can use.

Steps paraphrased from Outreach's Using Omni in Slack and MCP connectors articles. Menu names can change; check them against your org.
